With so much doom and gloom in the news it seems that we convince ourselves that there is nothing we can do about our current business climate. We should stop focusing on the negative: "Unemployment is 11%" and focus on the positive: "employment is at 89%"! That sounds much better, especially for the markets hardest hit by the downturn.
We've all heard the news about potential 800 person orders here and 500 person orders there so we know that the business is out there. Renee Daaboul and Charlie Miller have each identified very large accounts in their respective markets. Here in central FL, I wanted to identify some large users and use some targeted marketing techniques to see if we could get a foot in the door. The first step was prospecting to locate areas and industries where we might find some users of our services who fit the bill.
Tampa hasn't had much luck yet in identifying this type of prospect yet but Lakeland has had tremendous success. Just this week Brenda Graham and Paul Perkins have been able to identify 5 prospects each using from 50 to 150 temporaries per day. Now we have a clear idea of where 400 temporaries are working every day and we have contact names and information.
Step two will be to work with Sara to create some targeted marketing pieces and electronic presentations like she just did for a large prospect in another market. That presentation will be available for everyone to view next week on our YouTube Channel.
I'm not saying any more right now--I don't want to jinx anything, but check back often. I'll update the blog as things progress. The bottom line is that there is still plenty of business out there. It might be in different market segments than we are used to working or in new areas that we haven't even explored, but it is out there.
The question is "What are you doing about it?"
